Looking for....

Now that be2.net is back on the search engines and placing quite well by the way, we are looking for someone to help us with increasing conversion rates on registrations.

If you do a search for 'free online dating' on Google, you will see us on page 3, Yahoo! page 2, Bing page 1. Yet, conversion rates are quite low. Traffic keeps increasing, but registrations are not.

So, if you are an SEO Guru, please contact us. Payments can be made via PayPal

Live Search is now Bing!

Imagine my surprise when I used for the first time in a few weeks Live Search in my IE, for the term free online dating, and was directed to a site called Bing!. I guess Micro$oft is finally evolving and live search is now called Bing!

I can care less what they are called, as long as I can place in the first 10 results on the term online dating

Virtual Dating or Virtual Sex

The Japanese are not only light years ahead of us with electronics, but also in virtual and mobile dating. They have invented a handy little device (see the video link for more), which in a few years will allow you to have virtual sex with anyone over the Internet.

Sorry, but you could not stop laughing at what geeks these guys are

Is OmniDate Down?

Someone asked me to pay $180 to have my dating link added to a online dating personals directory. I decided to check it out and noticed that one of the 5 paid links is for OmniDate.com. I decided to click on it and I was taken to a 'Service Not Available' error message.

Is OmniDate down or is it something with the directory

Immigrants seeking similar partners

This is an interesting article on where the dating industry should be heading. If you have a dating site, I think you should be focusing on matching partners from the same race.

Although interracial marriages overall have increased, the rate of Hispanics and Asians marrying partners of other races fell from 27% to 20% for Hispanics and 42% to 33% for Asians from 1990 to 2000, according to Ohio State University sociologist Zhenchao Qian, who co-authored a study on the subject. Increasingly, singles are turning to a growing number of niche dating sites on the Internet, such as be2.net, free online dating to find their potential partners.

I can attest to the study, knowing my own sister and my sister in law. Both of them immigrated in the early 1990's as kids. Now, all grown up, they have been seeking to connect with someone who shares their own roots. It is one thing when you share your parent's home and feel part of the immigrant culture, but completely different when you are outside and you feel more like an American. They feel divided and wonder if bringing an American to the family would make them feel comfortable. They even try to stay away from recent immigrants as they don't feel like they share common interests.

If you have a story you would like to share, please don't hesitate to comment on the post. Looking forward to your feedback.

Lying about your age...

Mark Katz, who is a 'Personal Trainer For People Who Want To Fall In Love' is going on the CBS Early Show today (Tuesday) to talk about the ethics of lying about your age. I’m 27, just sayin’. He says he’s going to be sporting poofy hair, which should make watching it even more of a must-see TV event.
I wish he were working for be2.net, the free online dating service!

Twitter's new email system - a step forward

A meaningful update to Twitter's email system was just rolled out. It includes both new followers and direct message notifications. The Twitter logo and background are now present, but what's most important is the additional information contained within the message about the person messaging you or starting to follow you. The only hyperlink is the link to this person's profile. Looking forward to more updates from Twitter.

be2.net the free online dating service had also rolled out a version of Twitter, which can be found at www.160tag.com's mini blog

Is Userplane closing down?!

There were rumors today and an article on the Online Personals Watch claiming that Userplane is closing down. Userplane is the company Michael Jones built and then sold to AOL. Mike subsequently was invited to become COO for MySpace.

The company was providing online instant messenger for the dating communities. I have confirmed from Mike, that for now this is only a rumor and that there is no substantial proof that this could be happening. I guess we can only wait and see what happens.

For a short period of time, back in 2005, be2.net the online dating service was also using it.

Facebook's New Friends Page

I did a little digging on Thursday last week and have an interesting finding to share with all of you. The new design Facebook implemented on your Friends page has one minor flaw: it lacks something we all may need - 'delete'. Let me backtrack and explain what I mean.

Let's say you have hundreds or even thousands of friends and one of them is writing junk, so you decide you want to remove them, as you get sick and tired of reading garbage (it happened to me). You click on Friends and then you go to 'All'. Well, it ain't easy finding the one you need, so you do a search. You start typing the name of the friend in question and the person appears on the list, but now, you have NO delete. You can not remove them from your friends list, period! You can only add them to an existing or new list. Well how do you make it easy then?!

Online Dating - Update for be2.net

For the new website design, we have been experimenting with the FaceBook connect and we are pretty sure it is 100% operational. Once the site is released, we will be asking all of your members for their input: do they find it useful, is it working, are they loving it?!

The FaceBook connect allows members to login to the site just by using their facebook login information. There are other hidden gadgets along the way, but I will let you discover them yourself. Some of them are: comments to facebook, invite facebook friends, and much more.
